This is a tourist visa. The visa usually has a validity of ten years. However, the immigration officer at the port of entry determines how long the visitor may remain in the United States upon arrival, usually not longer than six months for a single visit. As with many nonimmigrant visa categories, to qualify the applicant has to demonstrate strong ties to the home country as evidence of return upon completion of a short visit.
